Retailer, distributor and master distributor: who does what
A distributor ID on Payonclick is an account for someone who brings shops onto the platform and supports them after they join. If you want to become a fintech distributor, start with the three levels, because each one has a different job.
| Level | What they do | How the account is set up |
|---|---|---|
| Retailer | Serves customers at the shop | Joins directly on payonclick.in or in the app, or through their distributor |
| Distributor | Onboards and supports retailers, and can create retailer accounts in their network | Set up by our team after a conversation and KYC |
| Master distributor | Onboards distributors and retailers | Set up by our team after a conversation and KYC |
Each level can see its own network on the Payonclick portal and in the Payonclick Android app. A distributor ID fits someone who works directly with shops. A master distributor ID fits someone whose network will include distributors as well as retailers.
Whichever way a retailer joins, the steps are the same: registration, KYC, the retailer agreement by eSign, and activation of the services the shop wants.
Services your network can offer
Your retailers activate services one at a time. Each page below explains the service, its limits and the pitfalls to warn shops about.
AEPS
Cash withdrawal, balance enquiry and mini statement using the customer's Aadhaar and fingerprint or iris on a certified RD device. See AEPS retailer ID.
Micro ATM
Debit card cash withdrawal, balance enquiry and mini statement on a Bluetooth device from PAX, MoreFun or NewLand. See Micro ATM.
UPI cash withdrawal
The customer scans a dynamic QR code and approves with their UPI PIN, then the shop hands over the cash. See UPI cash withdrawal.
Mobile and DTH recharge
Prepaid recharge on Airtel, Jio, Vi, BSNL and MTNL, plus five DTH brands. See mobile and DTH recharge.
Bill payments
30 Bharat Connect (formerly BBPS) bill categories, each payment confirmed by TPIN. See bill payment service.
AEPS (Aadhaar Enabled Payment System), Micro ATM and UPI cash withdrawal need one extra step: AEPS merchant onboarding, with Aadhaar eKYC and bank eKYC. AEPS needs a certified RD device, and Micro ATM works only in the Android app with a compatible Bluetooth device. Recharge and bill payments need neither.
Service activation charges apply per service, and our team shares them. The current limits for each service are on our rules and limits page.
How a distributor onboards retailers
As a distributor, you can create retailer accounts in your network. Each retailer then goes through the same steps as a shop that joins directly, and your job is to help them finish each one.
Create the account
Create the retailer's account in your network, or let the retailer join through you.
Help with KYC
The retailer completes KYC through DigiLocker, or through the KYC form with Aadhaar, PAN, bank details and photos.
Retailer agreement
Once KYC is approved, the retailer signs the retailer agreement by eSign.
Activate services
The retailer activates the services they want. Activation charges apply per service.
AEPS merchant onboarding
For AEPS, Micro ATM and UPI cash withdrawal, the retailer adds shop and bank details, then completes Aadhaar eKYC (OTP plus biometric) and bank eKYC.
Daily authentication
Before AEPS transactions each day, the retailer authenticates their own Aadhaar biometrically, with location (GPS) permission switched on.
Two things slow retailers down more than anything else you can control. First, DigiLocker KYC is approved automatically only when the names match; otherwise our team reviews it. Second, the KYC form needs photos of the Aadhaar card (front and back), the PAN card and a passport-size photo, so check that they are clear and complete before the retailer submits.
For AEPS merchant onboarding, keep these ready: name, mobile number, a 4 to 6 digit merchant PIN, PAN, Aadhaar, shop name, shop address, bank account number, IFSC and account holder name. GSTIN is optional.
Every retailer must do their own KYC, eKYC and daily authentication with their own Aadhaar. Never complete these steps for a shop using your Aadhaar or anyone else's. The RBI directions on AePS touchpoint operators (RBI/2025-26/63) require acquiring banks to do KYC on every operator, including sub-agents.
What we check before setting up a distributor
Distributor and master distributor accounts are set up by our team, so the first step is an enquiry. Two things happen before your account is ready:
- A conversation. We use it to understand your plans and to explain the levels, the services and the commission structure.
- KYC. Your KYC is completed before our team sets up the account.
Before you apply, answer these questions honestly for yourself:
- How many shops can you visit, train and support in person?
- Do those shops have what each service needs, such as a certified RD device for AEPS or a Bluetooth Micro ATM device for card withdrawals?
- Can you explain limits, pending statuses and fraud warnings in simple words?
- Will you answer retailer calls and help them raise tickets when something goes wrong?
Activity matters as well as sign-ups. Under RBI/2025-26/63, dated 27 June 2025 and effective from 1 January 2026, acquiring banks must redo KYC after 3 consecutive months of inactivity, and must monitor operators by risk, including location, volume and velocity. A shop that stops using AEPS may need to complete KYC again.
Supporting your retailers: training, tickets and fraud awareness
Walk each new retailer through these points before their first customer.
What to teach every retailer
- Check before sending. A recharge needs no TPIN (transaction PIN), so the shop must read the number and amount back to the customer.
- Pending is not failed. A pending recharge is never re-sent automatically. Sending a second one can recharge the number twice if both go through.
- Keep the TPIN private. The TPIN confirms bill payments and bank settlements. It locks for 15 minutes after 5 wrong attempts.
- Know the AEPS OTP rule. In the Payonclick app, an AEPS cash withdrawal above ₹5,000 also needs an OTP sent to the customer's Aadhaar-linked mobile number.
- Know the hours. UPI cash withdrawal is not available between 11:30 PM and 5:00 AM.
- Bank settlement takes time. Moving money from the AEPS wallet to the Main wallet completes immediately. Moving it to the retailer's own bank account goes by IMPS (Immediate Payment Service) in the background, and the status updates when the bank confirms.
Tickets and support hours
Retailers can raise support tickets in the portal and the app. Our team also answers phone and WhatsApp on +91 99926 88080, Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM IST, and email at contactus@payonclick.in. Ask your retailers to include the transaction reference, amount and time in every ticket.
Fraud awareness
Payonclick staff never ask for an OTP, TPIN, password or a remote fingerprint scan. Tell every retailer this on the first day, and repeat it. Anyone who calls asking for these is not from Payonclick, even if they know the retailer's name or mobile number.
Honest expectations before you apply
- No earnings promises. We do not publish commission figures and we do not promise any income. Our team shares the commission structure when you talk to us.
- It is real work. Onboarding a shop means helping with KYC, the agreement, activation and, for cash services, merchant onboarding and a device. After that, retailers will call you with questions.
- Rules can stop a transaction. Banks can apply their own limits on AEPS, the card-issuing bank sets its own limits on Micro ATM, and the recharge operator list can change.
- There are charges. Service activation charges apply per service, and our team shares them.
- Payonclick is not a bank. Payonclick India is a technology and service provider operated by VVN MULTISERVICES INDIA Pvt. Ltd., Sirsa, Haryana. It is not a bank, not a Bharat Bill Payment Operating Unit and not a payment aggregator. A distributor ID is an account on our platform, not a licence.
