UPI Cash Withdrawal

UPI cash withdrawal at your counter

Customers who use any UPI app can now take cash at your shop. You show a dynamic QR code, the customer approves with their UPI PIN, and you hand over the cash once the payment succeeds.

  • Works with any UPI app
  • ₹100 to ₹5,000 per withdrawal
  • Dynamic QR valid for about a minute
  • No card or fingerprint needed

How UPI cash withdrawal works at your shop

UPI cash withdrawal lets a customer take cash from their bank account using their UPI app instead of a debit card or fingerprint. Payonclick added the service to its app in August 2026. At the counter it takes four steps:

1

Enter the details

In the Payonclick app, enter the withdrawal amount and the customer's mobile number.

2

Show the QR

The app creates a dynamic UPI QR code for this withdrawal. Each code stays valid for about a minute.

3

Customer approves

The customer scans the QR with any UPI app and approves the payment with their UPI PIN.

4

Hand over cash

When the app shows success, give the customer the cash. The amount is credited to your Payonclick wallet.

Because the money moves over UPI, the customer needs nothing except their phone. You need no card terminal and no biometric device for this service.

What the customer needs

  • A smartphone with a UPI app linked to their bank account
  • Their UPI PIN, which they enter in their own app
  • Their mobile number, which is mandatory and recorded with the withdrawal

This makes UPI cash withdrawal a good fit for customers who pay by UPI every day but do not carry a debit card, or whose fingerprint does not read well on AEPS devices.

Limits and service hours

Item In the Payonclick app
Amount per withdrawal ₹100 to ₹5,000
Amount steps Multiples of ₹100
Service hours Closed from 11:30 PM to 5:00 AM
Customer mobile number Required

Official limits also apply per customer. NPCI's circular NPCI/UPI/OC-225/2025-26 of 7 October 2025 sets ₹5,000 per transaction, ₹10,000 per day and ₹50,000 per month for UPI cash withdrawal at business correspondent points. Our guide to UPI cash withdrawal limits explains each one. The customer's own bank can set lower limits. Check our rules and limits page for updates.

Who can offer it

To offer UPI cash withdrawal, your Payonclick account needs:

  • a completed retailer registration and KYC,
  • completed AEPS merchant onboarding and eKYC, because this service uses the same merchant setup, and
  • the UPI cash withdrawal service activated by our team.

If you already run AEPS or Micro ATM on Payonclick, most of this is done. Our team shares the activation charges and commission before you pay anything.

Keeping every withdrawal safe

Cash leaves your drawer the moment you hand it over, so the app is built around one rule: success first, cash second.

  • Wait for success. A scanned QR is not a payment. Hand over cash only when the Payonclick app shows the withdrawal succeeded.
  • Let the QR expire. Each code is valid for about a minute. If the customer takes longer, create a new one; never reuse an old code or a screenshot of it.
  • Protect the customer's privacy. The customer's UPI ID is masked in your transaction history.
  • Never ask for a UPI PIN. The customer types it into their own app. Anyone who asks for it is attempting fraud.

Never accept a payment screenshot from the customer's phone as proof. Screenshots are easy to fake. Only the success status inside your Payonclick app counts.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which UPI apps can customers use?

Any UPI app the customer already uses for payments can scan the dynamic QR and approve the withdrawal with the UPI PIN. The customer does not need to install anything new.

How much can a customer withdraw?

In the Payonclick app, ₹100 to ₹5,000 per withdrawal, in multiples of ₹100. Daily and monthly limits also apply per customer, and the customer's bank can set lower ones.

Can customers withdraw cash late at night?

Not with UPI cash withdrawal. The service is unavailable from 11:30 PM to 5:00 AM in the Payonclick app. AEPS or Micro ATM can serve customers during those hours.

Does the customer need Aadhaar for UPI cash withdrawal?

No. The customer approves the withdrawal in their UPI app with their UPI PIN and gives their mobile number. No Aadhaar authentication or fingerprint is needed.

What if money leaves the customer's account but the app does not show success?

Do not hand over cash. Check the status again in the app after a short while. If the payment has failed, the debit is reversed to the customer's account under UPI's dispute rules; raise a support ticket if the status stays unclear.

Do I need AEPS onboarding for this service?

Yes. UPI cash withdrawal uses the same merchant onboarding and eKYC as AEPS, so that must be complete before the service can be activated on your account.
