Recharge Service

Mobile recharge retailer ID for prepaid and DTH

Recharge prepaid mobile numbers and DTH connections for walk-in customers at your shop counter. Each recharge is paid from your Payonclick wallet balance and needs no TPIN, and a pending recharge is never sent twice.

  • Mobile prepaid: Airtel, Jio, Vi, BSNL, MTNL
  • DTH: Airtel Digital TV, Tata Play, Dish TV, d2h, Sun Direct
  • No TPIN needed for a recharge
  • Pending recharges are never re-sent

What your shop can recharge

A mobile recharge retailer ID on Payonclick lets your shop recharge prepaid mobile numbers and DTH (direct-to-home TV) connections for walk-in customers. You work from the same account on payonclick.in or in the Payonclick Android app, and each recharge is paid from your wallet balance.

The same ID works as a DTH recharge service for shops, so a customer can top up a Tata Play or Dish TV connection at your counter as easily as a Jio number. These operators are on the platform today:

Recharge type Operators on the platform What you need from the customer
Mobile prepaid Airtel, Jio, Vi, BSNL, MTNL The 10-digit mobile number, the operator and the amount
DTH Airtel Digital TV, Tata Play, Dish TV, d2h, Sun Direct The DTH brand, the customer's DTH ID for that brand and the amount

The live operator list can change, so check the list in the app before you tell a customer you can recharge a brand. Postpaid connections are not in this table; they are bills, covered further down this page.

How a recharge works

A recharge takes a few taps. The app checks the details it can check, and you check the rest with the customer.

1

Choose mobile or DTH

Open recharge, then pick the recharge type and the customer's operator or DTH brand.

2

Enter the number

For mobile, type the customer's 10-digit number. The app accepts only a valid 10-digit Indian number. For DTH, type the customer's DTH ID.

3

Enter the amount

Type the amount the customer asked for. Your wallet balance is checked before the recharge is sent.

4

Send it

No TPIN is needed. A double tap does not create a second recharge.

5

Tell the customer the result

Wait for the status, which is successful, pending or failed, and explain it to the customer.

A recharge needs no TPIN (transaction PIN), so there is no last screen to catch a typing mistake. The app checks that a mobile number is a valid 10-digit Indian number, but it cannot know whether a valid number is the wrong one. The recharge goes to the number or DTH ID you typed, so read the digits and the amount back to the customer before you send.

Successful, pending and failed recharges explained

Every recharge shows one of three statuses. What you tell the customer depends on which one you see.

Status What it means What you should do
Successful The operator has confirmed the recharge. Tell the customer the recharge is done.
Pending The operator has not confirmed it yet. It stays pending until the status is confirmed. Do not send the same recharge again. Tell the customer it is being confirmed and check the status again later.
Failed The recharge did not go through. Check the number, operator and amount with the customer before you try again.

Operators do not always confirm a recharge straight away. In the Payonclick app, a pending recharge is never re-sent automatically, so the customer is not charged twice for one request.

Pending is not the same as failed. If you send a fresh recharge while the first one is still pending, and both go through, the customer's number gets two recharges. Wait until the first one shows successful or failed.

If a recharge stays pending, or a result does not match what the customer sees, raise a support ticket in the portal or app. Include the mobile number or DTH ID, the amount and the time of the recharge.

Postpaid, broadband and landline bills go through bill payment

A recharge is for prepaid mobile and DTH only. Postpaid mobile, broadband and landline bills are not recharges. Your shop pays them through Bharat Connect (formerly BBPS, the Bharat Bill Payment System) using our bill payment service.

The two services work differently at the counter:

Item Mobile and DTH recharge Bill payment on Bharat Connect
What it covers Prepaid mobile and DTH 30 bill categories, including postpaid mobile, broadband, landline, electricity and credit card
TPIN Not needed Needed to confirm each payment
Receipt Recharge status in the app Receipt with Bharat Connect branding and transaction reference
If something goes wrong Support ticket to our team Bharat Connect complaint for a successful payment

If a customer hands you a postpaid bill and asks for a "recharge", switch to bill payment. A prepaid recharge on a postpaid number is the wrong service for that bill.

Adding recharge to your other services on one account

A customer who comes in for a recharge may also want to pay a bill or withdraw cash. Recharge sits in the same Payonclick account as your other retailer services, so you do not need a second login or a second KYC.

One registration and KYC

You register, complete KYC and sign the retailer agreement once, then activate each service you want.

Wallet balance checked first

A recharge is sent only after your wallet balance is checked, so you see a problem before the customer's request goes out.

Bills at the same counter

Postpaid, broadband, electricity and other bills go through Bharat Connect, with a receipt that carries the Bharat Connect transaction reference.

Cash services when you are ready

AEPS, Micro ATM and UPI cash withdrawal need one extra step, AEPS merchant onboarding. See the AEPS retailer ID page.

Protected login and TPIN

Login is protected by an OTP. Your TPIN locks for 15 minutes after 5 wrong attempts.

One support desk

Tickets in the portal and app, plus phone and WhatsApp from Monday to Saturday, 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM IST.

Charges and commission for recharge are shared by our team on request. We do not publish those figures, and this page does not promise any income from a recharge business. The current limits and rules for every service are on our rules and limits page.

How to start: get your mobile recharge retailer ID

1

Register

Sign up on payonclick.in or in the Payonclick app with your name, gender, mobile number (verified by OTP), email and password.

2

Complete KYC

Share Aadhaar and PAN through DigiLocker, or fill the KYC form with your Aadhaar number, PAN, bank account details and photos.

3

Sign the agreement

Once your KYC is approved, sign the retailer agreement by eSign.

4

Activate recharge

Choose the recharge service. Service activation charges apply per service, and our team shares them.

5

Keep a wallet balance

The balance is checked before every recharge, so keep enough in your wallet for the day's customers.

With DigiLocker, KYC is approved automatically if the names match; otherwise our team reviews it. The KYC form needs photos of the Aadhaar card (front and back), the PAN card and a passport-size photo, and our team reviews it.

Recharge does not need AEPS merchant onboarding. You can join directly or through your distributor. If you want to build a network of shops yourself, see our Distributor Program.

Payonclick staff never ask for your OTP, TPIN, password or a remote fingerprint scan. Anyone who asks for these is not from Payonclick.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a mobile recharge retailer ID?

It is your Payonclick retailer account with the recharge service activated. After you register, complete KYC, sign the retailer agreement by eSign and activate recharge, you can recharge prepaid numbers on Airtel, Jio, Vi, BSNL and MTNL, and DTH connections on Airtel Digital TV, Tata Play, Dish TV, d2h and Sun Direct, from your wallet balance.

Which operators can my shop recharge?

Mobile prepaid: Airtel, Jio, Vi, BSNL and MTNL. DTH: Airtel Digital TV, Tata Play, Dish TV, d2h and Sun Direct. This is the list on the platform today, and it can change. The operator list in the app shows what you can recharge at the moment, so check it before you take a customer's request for a brand not listed here.

Do I need a TPIN to do a recharge?

No. A recharge needs no TPIN, which keeps the counter quick but removes one chance to catch a mistake. The app checks that a mobile number is a valid 10-digit Indian number, but it cannot tell whether a valid number is the wrong one. Read the number and amount back to the customer before you send.

What should I do when a recharge shows pending?

Wait. Pending means the operator has not confirmed the recharge yet. The app never re-sends a pending recharge automatically, so the customer is not charged twice. Do not send a new recharge for the same request, because if both go through the number gets two recharges. If it stays pending, raise a support ticket with the number, amount and time.

What happens if I tap the recharge button twice?

A double tap does not create two recharges. The app also checks your wallet balance before the recharge is sent. If you are unsure whether a recharge went out, look at its status in the app before you try again, because a pending recharge can still go through.

Can I pay a postpaid mobile or broadband bill as a recharge?

No. Postpaid mobile, broadband and landline bills are paid through Bharat Connect (formerly BBPS) bill payments, not through recharge. A bill payment needs your TPIN, and the customer gets a receipt with the Bharat Connect transaction reference. See our bill payment service for the 30 bill categories your counter can accept.

What does the recharge service cost, and what commission do I get?

Service activation charges apply per service, and our team shares the amount when you ask. Recharge charges and commission are also shared by our team on request. We do not publish these figures on the website, and we do not promise any monthly income from a recharge business. Send the enquiry form or message us on WhatsApp to ask.

Can I start the recharge service through my distributor?

Yes. A retailer can join directly or through their distributor. The steps are the same either way: registration, KYC, the retailer agreement by eSign and service activation. Recharge does not need AEPS merchant onboarding, which applies only to AEPS, Micro ATM and UPI cash withdrawal.
